New Jersey Transit Installs Additional Doron Precision Systems
Driver Training Simulators.
Binghamton, NY, March 2002
Donald E. Wenzinger, President, Doron Precision Systems, Inc. announced today that the company recently completed the installation of one Vehicle Maneuvering Trainer (VMT) and four additional L-300 driver training cars in the Camden, New Jersey training facility of the New Jersey Transit. The additional four-place L-300 driver training cars increases the capacity of the Camden training facility to eight places. The training system is used by NJT for refresher training of bus drivers. The system is used in a classroom setting, providing realistic training scenarios. Approximately 1,500 drivers use the system annually.
The Vehicle Maneuvering Trainer (VMT) is a fully interactive system that simulates a typical transit bus with functioning controls and instruments. Trainees can practice all basic maneuvers without actually being in a bus. The diorama in which students maneuver the simulated bus is customized with the skyline of Camden and Philadelphia. Trainees new to New Jersey Transit use both forms of training in conjunction with actual on road training. This combination provides a shorter training period and results in more qualified drivers.
The Camden facility serves the training needs of those drivers working and residing in the southern part of New Jersey. In Maplewood, New Jersey, the NJT also operates a training facility that includes one VMT and a 10 place L-300 system from Doron. Doron.
