AC Transit Takes Top Roadeo Prize for Fifth Time, and New Jersey Transit Takes Top Operator Award at 2004 APTA Roadeo
Binghamton, NY, November 2004

Doron Precision Systems, Inc. highlights the success of AC (Alameda-Contra Costa) Transit in Oakland, Calif., and New Jersey Transit in the 29th APTA (American Public Transportaion Association) International Roadeo held Oct. 9 in Atlanta. Both AC Transit and New Jersey Transit are Doron customers and implement comprehensive, simulation based, driver training programs for their operators. Combining two of Doron’s proven successful Driving Simulation Systems, a multi-position semi-interactive system with an interactive simulator system results in the most powerful broad-based safe-driving program available at the lowest cost.

Over 115 teams, representing North America’s best bus operators and maintenance teams, participated in this year’s roadeo. This was the fifth time AC Transit has received the top award since APTA introduced it in 1998. This honor goes to the highest combined score for its maintainers and bus operators.

Operator Edwin Negron of New Jersey Transit Corporation placed first in the 40-foot bus category and AC Transit’s Harold Kutz took second place among operators of 40-foot buses in the roadeo competition.

Doron Transit customers include AC Transit, Broward County Mass Transit, Cleveland Mass Transit, Delaware Administration of Regional Transit, First Transit, Greater Hartford Transit District, Greater Richmond Transit, Hampton Roads Transit, New Jersey Transit, New Orleans Regional Transit Authority, Orange County Transportation Authority, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority, and South Bend Public Transportation Corporation.
