Doron Transforms Concept into Reality and Unveils New 460Fire Interactive Fire Truck Driving Simulation System.
Binghamton, NY, September 2004
Doron Precision Systems, Inc. announces the launch of the new 460Fire driving simulation system. The 460Fire interactive driving simulator system was developed to address industry requests for effective and cost efficient driver training. The system is designed to assist EVOC trainers address the rising number of Fire Department vehicle collisions (15,550 in 2002), and the reality that Firefighters are more likely to die traveling to or from a fire than fighting one. (NFPA Fire Database -2004)
Emergency vehicle drivers training on state-of-the art interactive simulators develop more complex cognitive and perceptual skills. Drivers are able to experience dangerous driving conditions and practice advanced defensive driving in the safe controlled environment of simulation.
The 460Fire replicates the driving compartment of a typical fire truck and includes essential components found in late model trucks. The real-time visual system is comprised of high resolution DLP rear projection and plasma displays, which include remote controlled real-time rear view mirror images. It allows drivers to operate their emergency vehicle in a seamless CGI virtual world comprised of rural, suburban, and urban areas. Instructors are supplied with a library of scenarios, complete with animated fire and smoke, but can easily create new scenarios to address specific training objectives. This provides an environment in which many different agencies, such as law enforcement, fire, and EMS can safely practice coordinated responses.
The 460Fire can be linked with other Doron interactive simulators. The 460Fire has interchangeable cabs that allow for different vehicle styles to be simply rolled into place and connected. Don Wenzinger, President, Doron Precision Systems, Inc. says that, The training synergy provided by interchangeable cabs and linkable systems is the future of emergency response, training, and supports Homeland Security training. Our systems are engineered to be costeffective and have proven to reduce collisions and associated costs.
